Why this exists
A moving-company name, brand and salesperson may not identify the legal company that will transport someone’s belongings. MoverSignal organizes federal identity, registration, authority, insurance and safety records around the USDOT number so consumers can compare their paperwork with the correct entity.
Editorial standards
- Official facts, MoverSignal calculations and consumer evidence are labeled separately.
- Missing information is never described as a clean record or an adverse record.
- Household-goods cargo classification is kept separate from operating authority.
- Crash involvement is not presented as proof of fault.
- Historical events are distinguished from current restrictions.
- Companies cannot pay to change their regulatory summary.
How records are reviewed
Nationwide search begins with dated FMCSA bulk datasets. Company pages reconcile those imports with available live federal records. Automated integrity tests check identity, authority, insurance, search coverage and page generation before publication. Differences between federal systems are logged for review instead of being silently resolved.
Corrections and challenges
Businesses and consumers can identify a possible mismatch, changed status or naming problem. A correction is reviewed against dated or live official evidence before the public record changes.
Who writes and reviews the site
MoverSignal’s editorial and data-review work is currently led by its founder, Pierre Boudet. Guides identify their review date, cite primary sources and are updated when the underlying rules or evidence materially change.
